Assemblyman Colton Prepares to Serve the Community with Stay Home Staff Under New Pause Executive Order

Assemblyman William Colton (D – Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) saying that Governor Cuomo has signed the “New York State on Pause” the executive order, which will go into effect at 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 22, 2020. The public health safety measures will allow only essential workers and businesses are exempt from the order, and order will be enforced by local law enforcement. The New York State on Pause Executive Order is to increase social distancing in hopes to slow the spread of Coronavirus. These measures are necessary for protecting the health and safety of all New Yorkers. I am thankful for the true leadership the Governor is showing in this crisis.

"We are clearly in a serious health crisis. It is normal to experience fear for ourselves and our loved ones. By working together we will overcome this common enemy of the Coronavirus. We will get through these difficult times and we will be stronger and better than ever before," Colton stated.

"Although my District Office at 155 Kings Highway, as well as other Assembly 6 District Offices, have been directed to be closed for the duration of this order, it is important that we continue to provide assistance to the community. Therefore I am having my dedicated staff and myself to work from home to continue to provide this help and services. Calls to the 718 236 1598 are being transferred to an answering device where which is being continuously monitored so staff can return these calls and respond as soon as possible. Persons must leave their name and telephone number and a very brief description of their concern so that a staff member can be assigned to respond. Also, any persons can contact the office by emailing to coltonw@nyassembly.gov where a staff member, working from home has been provided with a mobile laptop to receive and forward emails to be acted upon by other staff members working from home as well as by me," Colton said.

"On a personal note, I do believe in the power of prayer, accompanied by us following necessary precautions and good faith efforts to help each other. I will be praying for you and for a swift end to this difficult time, while I do my best to serve you and your families. May God bless you and May God Bless America," Colton added.
