Assemblyman Colton (D – Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, and Dyker Heights) says that USPS services became a huge concern especially for the individuals who depend on prescription drugs by home delivery.

“In late March of 2021, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy disclosed a 10-year plan that includes longer first-class delivery windows, reduced post office hours, and higher postage prices. An increase may happen this summer and as large as 9%. My fear is that costs will be passed on to consumers. All these changes will further destroy USPS agency operation,” Colton stated.

“My concern is that a number of ideas in this plan will impair services even more than it already is for people throughout the country, especially those who rely on the USPS for prescription drugs, financial documents, etc. Limiting postal office hours and cut services for first-class mail will make it more problematic. It will negatively impact many consumers across the state. I believe that the USPS must be properly funded. We cannot allow cuts to the agency that is underperforming. Congress must intervene and stop any cuts to the USPS services,” Colton said.
