Assemblyman Colton will be Hosting his Annual Halloween Candy Giveaway for the Neighborhood Kids
Assemblyman William Colton (D – Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, Dyker Heights) will be hosting an Annual Halloween candy giveaway together with Dr. Law President of the CASS, and Ray Denaro founder of the Bath Beach, Bensonhurst & Gravesend Alliance.
“Originally Halloween started as a religious holiday on the eve of All Saints Day on November 1st. European immigrants brought Halloween to the United States, in the 1800s when Irish American immigration exploded. Since then it became a yearly tradition for nearly all Americans,” Colton said.
“For the past few years, my office has been hosting candy distribution for the children in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we were not able to host a Halloween candy giveaway last year. Since things are getting back to normal little by little this year, we decided to have it again. I know that it’s a lot of fun for kids, which makes me extremely happy. It is very important to keep our community united no matter what their background is.” Colton continued.
“For this year’s event we will be hosting Halloween candy giveaway on Sunday, October 31, from 1 pm - 3 pm at three different locations; Avenue U & West 6 Street, Bay Parkway & 86 Street, and Bay Parkway & 68 Street. We will distribute bags filled with candies, Halloween safety tips for parents, and puzzles for the children. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the spirit of Halloween. All must practice COVID-19 safety rules. Parents should always be attentive to their kids’ surroundings. Be safe and happy trick or Treating to all,” Colton added.
