The governor’s budget once The governor’s budget once again shortchanges our local schools. Sadly, the governor continues to ignore the proven ability of programs like smaller class sizes, universal pre-K, and full-day kindergarten to help our students achieve their full potential. These cuts leave less money for supplies, technology hardware, library textbooks and other essentials. Under the governor’s proposal, locally only Brentwood and Central Islip schools will have a measly increase, which won’t even cover the rising cost of living on Long Island. Other Suffolk schools would also be shortchanged by the governor’s budget, including:
