Assemblyman Ed Ra stopped by the Gotham Avenue School in Elmont on Monday, December 19, 2011, to collect toys donated during Ra's first annual "Toys for Tots" drive, sponsored by the United States Marine Corps. Participating schools include Dutch Broadway, Clara H. Carlson, Alden Terrace, Stewart Manor, Covert Avenue, and Gotham Avenue. Ra noted that the tremendous spirit of the community helped fill four boxes of toys to help the less fortunate experience the joy of the holidays.

Ra noted the overwhelming and heartfelt response from students from the Elmont school district will make the holidays brighter for hundreds of children in the community.
