He has organized a group of Holocaust survivors to present a program about the terrible effects of hate symbols.

As a member of the Joint Budget Conference Committee on Higher Education, Colton fought against cuts to TAP and for more funding for CUNY and SUNY. He won a State budget increase in funding for Community Colleges, such as Kingsborough Community College.

METROCARD REDUCED FARE SERVICES

Assemblyman Colton has MTA MetroCard staff at his Community Office at 155 Kings Highway on the last Friday of each month. Seniors and people with disabilities can apply for the Reduced Fare card. Hundreds of people have benefited from these services. Call 718-236-1598 for more details.

ANNUAL FREE FLU SHOTS

Each year Assemblyman Colton sponsors free flu shots for seniors at his community office. Last year the flu vaccines were administered by the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. Appointments were made for some two hundred seniors to receive their vaccinations. This year the program will be held in October or November. Those who wish to receive such shots should call the office at 718-236-1598 and they will be notified of their appointment date and time.

AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM

Assemblyman Colton will be sponsoring a driver safety program on November 16th, 2008. Those who take the course can get a discount on their auto insurance. Those interested should call the office at 718-236-1598 for details. Ask for Paul S. Lipton.
