Betty Duggan runs the hotline for the Medicare Rights Center. The Center is a non-partisan, non-political organization that is the largest independent source of Medicare information and assistance in the United States for people with Medicare. Ms. Duggan will discuss the new Medicare Approved Prescription Discount Cards that will happen in June of 2004, plus program changes that start in 2006. Those with incomes of $80,000 and higher will have the cost of their Medicare premiums tied to their income level.

For everything you want to know about Medicare call The Medicare Rights Center hotline at 1-800-333-4114 or go to their website at www.medicarerights.org.

Thomas Cassidy, former Senior Special Investigator with the New York State Attorney General’s office, is the author of “Elder Care/What To Look For/What To Look Out For.” The writer is a research fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Cassidy will discuss what people need to do now in order to make decisions that they won’t regret later as the new Medicare system is phased in. He also will talk about how to cover the gaps in Medicare.

To make an informed choice, the American Institute for Economic Research has a Prescription Drug Calculator that gives a preliminary estimate of possible savings with the new Medicare drug benefit. Go to www.aier.org.
