Survey Shows Residents Favor Medical Marijuana; Oppose More Gambling to Fund Education

State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef today released the results of her survey of constituents in Westchester and Putnam Counties who answered questions ranging from the use of medical marijuana to the expansion of gambling to finance education. Galef said she will use their input when considering legislation in Albany on the following questions:

  1. Do you favor legislation that would require insurance to cover mental illness as they do physical illnesses?

    Yes 84.6%
    No 15.4%
  2. Should we pass a bill allowing doctors to prescribe marijuana to chronically ill patients?

    Yes 77.2%
    No 22.8%
  3. Should we increase gambling in our state to secure more money for our children's education?

    Yes 40.4%
    No 59.6%
  4. Should we allow stem cell research in New York for medical purposes only?

    Yes 79.8%
    No 20.2%
  5. Should we have partial public financing of campaigns for judicial candidates?

    Yes 31.4%
    No 68.6%

More than 1110 residents answered the survey from Galef's 90th Assembly district, which includes the towns of Ossining, Cortlandt, Philipstown, Putnam Valley, and Kent, and the city of Peekskill.
