To report fraud in the state of New York, contact the attorney general, the comptroller or one of the agencies listed below. Individuals who make an allegation may remain anonymous.

Fraud and waste cost New York State taxpayers millions of dollars annually. Whether out of greed, ignorance or anger, those who commit fraud or waste state resources are swindling New Yorkers out of hard-earned money. These con artists cause increased premiums, drive up costs of other essential products and services and jeopardize the health and safety of others.
While the comptroller audits the state’s finances at every level of state and local government, the state also counts on people like you to do your part. You have the power to curb this trend by speaking up and exposing potential incidents of fraud and waste. This mailing provides New Yorkers with information about reporting allegations of fraud, corruption and abuse. I encourage you to review this information and utilize these contacts to report possible fraudulent activity.
My community office is here to help you. If you have questions about the information in this mailer or anything else please contact me.
Sincerely,
Kevin A. Cahill
Member of Assembly
The False Claims Act is an important tool for people to help state and local governments recover funds or property lost through fraud and corruption. Lawsuits filed by citizens are filed in secret to give the government an opportunity to investigate the allegations of fraud.
The False Claims Act protects employees from being retaliated against for filing suits against employers who may be engaged in the activity or practices that defraud the government out of money or property. Individuals who file suits may be eligible to keep a percentage of the funds they help recover.
