Assemblywoman Lupardo is reminding you to apply for the new Empire State Child Tax Credit

Claim for Empire State Child Care Credit
Last year, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo and the Legislature cut taxes for working families by creating the Empire State Child Tax Credit, with a possible benefit of up to $330 for each child. Assemblywoman Lupardo is reminding parents to apply for the tax credit when filing their state income taxes this year.
Who can apply for the Empire State Child Tax Credit?
  • You must be a New York State resident for a full year
  • You must claim a federal child tax credit or meet certain income thresholds
  • Your children must have been at least 4 and less than 17 years old on December 31, 2006
How do you apply? What if you already filed your tax return?
Reminder: The deadline to file an application for the STAR property tax exemption with your local assessor is March 1, 2007
  • Fill out IT-213 and mail the form by itself to:

Lupardo works for tax relief

Broome County residents are still benefiting from last year’s wide-ranging tax cuts which:

  • Provided a property tax rebate
  • Eliminated the marriage tax penalty
  • Eliminated the state sales tax on clothing and footwear under $110
  • Cut the state sales tax on gasoline

Assemblywoman Lupardo will continue to work for even more tax cuts. She supports Governor Eliot Spitzer’s proposal to provide property tax relief for middle-class families.
