STATE SENIOR PROGRAMS: |
EPIC – The Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage Program is New York state’s prescription plan for seniors. To be eligible for this program, you must be 65 and older, with an individual income of $35,000 or less, or a married income of $50,000 or less. Persons receiving Medicaid benefits are not eligible. For more information, contact the EPIC HOTLINE at 1-800-332-EPIC or visit the Web site at www.health.state.ny.us. ENHANCED STAR – New York state’s Enhanced School Tax Relief Program is available to all property owners who are or will be 65 and older on or before December 31 of the current year, and with a household income from the 2002 tax year of $63,750 or less. For more information, contact the state Office of Real Property Services at 1-888-697-8275 or visit the Web site at www.orps.state.ny.us. LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE – New York state’s Partnership for Long-Term Care Insurance Program is an innovative partnership between the public and private sectors designed to help people afford costly nursing home bills.
