Seneca Falls

Dear Friend,

New York is rich in the resources necessary to create a wonderful place to live and work. However, many small businesses are hurt by rising taxes and operating costs. That is why I support business-friendly initiatives and work to strengthen our economy.

Listed here are some of the legislative initiatives I’ve supported in the past that I believe will help create and retain jobs here while strengthening the Finger Lakes economy.

Send along concerns by calling my office at 781-2030, or e-mail me at kolbb@assembly.state.ny.us.

In Seneca Falls, Assemblyman Kolb:
  • Recently held a town hall-style meeting to be easily accessible to residents and town officials, and to discuss issues of concern with Seneca Falls residents.

  • Lowered the cost of gasoline by helping pass a state gasoline sales tax cap, saving motorists 4 cents per gallon at the $3 per gallon rate. Motorists will save an estimated $250 million or more over the next year. Savings would rise as the retail cost of gasoline increases because the sales tax cap is set at $2 per gallon.

  • Supported creation of a property tax rebate providing homeowners with meaningful tax relief. This rebate applies to homeowners who receive a STAR exemption, who can expect a rebate check worth 30% of their STAR benefit. The statewide property tax savings total an estimated $920 million.

  • Improved farm product marketability and strengthened New York’s agricultural industry competitiveness.

Assemblyman Kolb continues:

  • Advocating further fuel savings through increased funding and support for alternative fuels, like ethanol, derived from Western New York agricultural commodities. Assemblyman Kolb knows alternative fuels reduce fuel costs through lower demand for gasoline, as well as provide a cleaner environment, more agricultural and manufacturing jobs, and greater national security through increased energy independence.

  • Listening to the needs of small-business owners and promoting continued economic development in the Seneca Falls area. Assemblyman Kolb supports measures to reduce small-business energy costs and taxes.

  • Sponsoring legislation to reform workers’ compensation and provide affordable health care for businesses and their employees.
