Palumbo Reminds North Fork Residents of New Westbound Train
Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo (R,C,I,Ref-New Suffolk) reminds North Fork residents today that there have been new additions to Long Island Railroad (LIRR) weekday departures for early morning riders. Riders now will have a westbound train that will depart from Greenport at 9:43 a.m., which will give North Fork customers an early afternoon arrival to New York City.
Changes have been made to the existing train runs to allow for these new additions. The daytime round trip to and from Greenport is now two hours later, arriving at Greenport at 2:06 p.m. and departing at 2:43 p.m.
“We have been working with the LIRR for some time now to ensure that North Fork Residents would have more options for travel,” said Palumbo. “We were very adamant about securing an afternoon arrival to New York City. These added departures will not only help during the summer months when traffic on the North Fork gets congested, but also will help commenters on Long Island.”
