Agency Mission

The Crime Victims Board (CVB) awards compensatory damages to victims of crime, focusing on those whose victimization was violent in nature. Damages are awarded to victims for loss of earnings, essential personal property loss, medical expenses and counseling services incurred. CVB also provides grants to local agencies, which assist witnesses and victims and serves as the State's advocate for crime victims rights, needs and interests.

Year-to-Year Change

The Executive proposes an All Funds increase of $4,335,600 or 7.7 percent and a General Fund State Operations decrease of $260,100 or 7.3 percent. Local Assistance funding is increased by $4,602,000 or 9.1 percent.

Legislative Proposals

The Assembly provides $1,000,000 to increase the funding for payments to victims and victim service agencies.
