Assemblywoman Fernandez Passes First Piece of Legislation
Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez successfully passed her first piece of legislation (A.10729) this Monday, June 18th, 2018. This new legislation will allow for the Medical Review Board of the State Commission of Corrections to access the mental health records for inmates of a correctional facility.
“I am proud to have successfully passed this legislation alongside my colleagues in the Assembly,” said Assemblywoman Fernandez. “The overwhelming support towards this progressive change has been truly gratifying. This will be an important step towards ensuring that inmates with mental health issues are given the care that they deserve. A lack of knowledge of an inmate’s health can be detrimental to their rehabilitation. I am grateful that this was my first legislation in office, and I look forward to passing more progressive bills that will help the people of New York.”
The bill is now moved onto the Senate floor where it has been advanced to Third Reading and will be voted on.
