Assemblyman Stirpe to Host 14th Annual Lifesavers Blood Drive
Assemblyman Al Stirpe (D-Cicero) is inviting members of the community to once again join him in donating blood at his 14th annual Lifesavers Blood Drive, hosted in conjunction with the American Red Cross.
One unforeseen challenge of the pandemic was the impact on the blood supply. For months, blood drives were cancelled altogether, and today the blood supply remains critically low, Said Assembly Stirpe. Now, the Red Cross is back in full swing, with many new safety precautions. So, please come out and support our community by donating blood. Your donation will help save lives.
First time donors and walk-ins are welcome, but the Red Cross highly recommends pre-registration and is asking people whove fully recovered from COVID-19 to consider donating.
To register for a time, visit https://www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/dlp/coronavirus--covid-19--and-blood-donation.html and use sponsor code: Al Stirpe.
The American Red Cross has implemented specific safety precautions in accordance with CDC guidelines, including temperature checks, requiring the use of face masks and gloves, using sterilized tools for every donor and following social distancing protocols. Moreover, all donors will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.
