Assemblywoman Amy Paulin Named a “New Abolitionist”
Scarsdale, N.Y. – New York State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-88) is pleased to announce that she has been named one of New York’s “New Abolitionists” by Sanctuary for Families and the New York State Anti-Trafficking Coalition.
Paulin will be honored for her tireless efforts to end human trafficking in New York State at The Paley Center for Media in New York City on December 2nd.
When we think of leading abolitionists in New York, we remember leaders like Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman and Elizabeth Cady Stanton who worked to end slavery in the United States in the 19th century. But now there is a new generation of abolitionists, individuals who are dedicated to ending human trafficking in New York and beyond. Paulin is among the distinguished group of women and men recognized as New York’s “New Abolitionists.” Joining Paulin in this group are United States Senator Charles Schumer, United States Congresswoman-elect Kathleen Rice, acting Supreme Court Justice and presiding judge of the Queens Human Trafficking Intervention Court Toko Serita and Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance.
“I am flattered and humbled to be included in this incredible group of people, unified in our commitment to eradicating human trafficking,” Paulin said. “Thousands of vulnerable young trafficking victims will remain trapped in the hellish life they were coerced into until our laws hold their evil predators accountable. And most importantly, we have to give victims the support and services they need to break free of their exploitation and begin to rebuild their lives.”
