Eastchester, New Rochelle and Pelham Libraries Awarded Grants
Scarsdale – Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-88) announced on Wednesday that the New York State Education Department and the New York State Library System have approved 216 construction awards to public libraries and public library systems, including three libraries in the 88th Assembly District.
The Huguenot Children’s Library (794 North Avenue, New Rochelle) will receive $28,804 to replace all interior windows. The Eastchester Library (11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester) will receive $13,804 for interior renovations while the Pelham Library (530 Colonial Avenue, Pelham) will receive $12,787 to improve exterior safety, accessibility and to make usability improvements.
“I am thrilled to see that the libraries will be able to use this money to make improvements and upgrade their services to the residents of these cities,” Paulin said. “Everyone benefits from something like this.”
These awards are supported by a $19 million capital fund appropriation in the 2016 State Budget.
“We are so delighted that our New York State Library Construction Grant for $12,787 was officially approved and thank Amy Paulin for her work in helping us to secure these much needed funds,” Pelham Public Library director Patricia Perito said. “Having automated doors at the Carol Place entrance is so important for the Library's accessibility. I'm glad we are making this happen for our community.”
