Amy Paulin Hails NY and NJ Appointments to Gateway Development Commission
Scarsdale, NY Assemblymember Amy R. Paulin hailed the appointments by New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy to the newly-established Gateway Development Commission, which will act as a coordinating agency for the facilitation of projects related to the stretch of the Northeast Corridor railway between Newark, New Jersey and Penn Station, including the rehabilitation and construction of tunnels under the Hudson River.
I am thrilled not only at the extremely well-qualified individuals that both Governors have named to lead this new commission, but at the diversity of experiences, knowledge, and backgrounds they will bring to this critical and large-scale infrastructure project, said Assemblymember Paulin.
I am indebted to the hard work and collaborative spirit of my partner, New Jersey State Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg. When we set out to craft this legislation, we were committed to making the Gateway a model public works and infrastructure project that will sustain our economy, allow for reliable transportation for our constituents and the entire northeast region of the United States, and last for generations. Getting Gateway right starts with demonstrating that New York and New Jersey can work together productively, responsibly, transparently, and with clear accountability. Thats what Leader Weinberg and I sought to project as we steered the bill through our respective legislatures. I am encouraged and optimistic to see Governors Cuomo and Murphy continue to reflect those same goals and values as the project moves forward.
