Assemblyman Hevesi Participates in Roundtable Discussion Concerning the Federal Reauthorization of the Child Care and Development Block Grant
This month, Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi, with Assemblymember Lupardo and several other Assembly colleagues, held a roundtable discussion with multiple non-profit organizations, advocates, and the Office of Children and Family Services to examine the federal reauthorization of the Child Care and Development Block Grant. The focus of this meeting was the impact that the new federal law will have on existing childcare programs in New York State. This law has several positive components, including multiple criminal background checks and first aid training for providers. However, the specific goal of the meeting was to ensure that the quality and quantity of New York’s current childcare programs can be adequately funded by the state, as this program comes with no federal funding.
