Assemblyman Andrew Molitor Condemns Human Trafficking and Announces Release of Task Force Report

Assemblyman Andrew Molitor (R,C-Westfield) joined his fellow Minority members of the Assembly today to condemn the growing epidemic of human trafficking that continues to devastate individuals and communities across New York state. Following the completion of the Assembly Minority Task Force on Human Trafficking, Molitor emphasized the importance of strengthening laws, improving victim services and raising awareness to combat this horrific crime.

“Human trafficking is a modern-day atrocity that affects thousands of men, women, and children across our state and nation,” said Molitor. “We have a moral obligation to take action, and the recommendations outlined by the task force are crucial in fighting this crime and offering justice to victims.”

The Assembly Minority Task Force on Human Trafficking held regional events and engaged with nearly 200 individuals statewide, including survivors, law enforcement, prosecutors, social workers, educators and other anti-trafficking advocates. Their insights have been integral in developing a comprehensive report, which includes recommendations for new legislation aimed at improving victims' services through supportive housing and resources, strengthening criminal laws to hold traffickers accountable and increasing training and awareness for professionals, students and the general public.

Molitor further stressed the need for a collaborative approach to tackling human trafficking, stating it is essential to work together across all sectors of society to ensure communities are safe and survivors receive the support and opportunities they need to rebuild their lives.
