Beephan Celebrates Inauguration with Minority Assembly

Assemblyman Anil Beephan, Jr. (R,C-East Fishkill) celebrated his inauguration today with fellow incoming Minority Assemblymembers in Albany. Elected to the Assembly on Nov. 8, 2022, Beephan is set to be sworn in within the district on Saturday, Jan. 14 in Hopewell Junction.

Assembly Minority legislatures also gathered before the first day of session on Jan. 3 to welcome new members and swear them in before they officially begin their first term. Beephan says he’s feeling ‘ready to go’ following the event.

“There’s great energy here in our conference, and I’m ready to hit the ground running as we start the 2023-24 Legislative Session,” Beephan said. “This Minority Conference is the most diverse the State Assembly has seen since it’s inception, with myself, the first Indian-American representative in the Minority Conference, the first Asian-American Assemblyman from Brooklyn in Lester Chang, our Russian representatives in Alec Brook-Krasny and Michael Novakhov in Brooklyn, and a bevy of experienced and energized representatives from both upstate and downstate.

We’ve got a lot of issues that still need addressing – egregious spending, sky-high taxes and public safety were all issues that the voters were concerned about last election cycle. But with our increased Minority Conference, I’m committed to addressing those issues immediately. It’s been a great day of introductions and celebrations, but starting Jan. 4, the real world begins, and I’m ready for it.”
