Assemblyman Ari Brown Secures $25,000 for Local Libraries
Assemblyman Brown (R-Cedarhurst) announced today that he has secured $25,000 in state funding that will be allocated to the Nassau Library System which funds five local libraries within his district: Oceanside Library, Peninsula Public Library, Long Beach Public Library, Island Park Public Library, and Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library. These institutions have already expressed an interest in using this funding to support projects and initiatives that strengthen the quality and enhance the value of library service in Nassau County.
“Libraries are pillars in communities throughout the state,” said Brown. “Services such as wireless internet access, educational resources and community development programs are important tools for students and job seekers alike. These resources make it possible for those who do not have access to a computer at home to apply for jobs and aid, a safe space for local kids to study and engage with their peers, and an opportunity for locals to connect with their community through activities such as public gardens and art workshops. I couldn't be happier to secure this funding.”
As a long-time supporter of educational endeavors and a member of the Assembly Education Committee, Ari has a special understanding for the necessity to support our library systems. He hopes that this much-deserved aid will help both children and adults in the area with access to information and resources.
