Brown’s Meeting with DOT Commissioners Yields End to Rockaway Turnpike Nightmare
Following repeated calls for a solution to unnecessary and burdensome traffic along the Rockaway Turnpike, Assemblyman Ari Brown (R-Cedarhurst) announced today that all traffic congestion and construction is expected to come to an end by Thursday, weather permitting, according to the DOT. The announcement comes after Brown facilitated a meeting with NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez and the Department of Environmental Protection this morning, following a letter he sent to the NYC DOT commissioner on Aug. 10.
“It’s finally coming to an end,” Brown said. “Department of Transportation commissioners have assured me that this traffic nightmare will be coming to an end by this Thursday, weather permitting. Our residents, commuters and emergency services departments have suffered for far too long with unnecessary delays and dangerous driving conditions and, today, we know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.”
