Assemblyman Ari Brown Begins New Term, Set to Advocate for Local Economies, Communities and New Yorkers’ Priorities
January 8, 2025 – Assemblyman Ari Brown (R-Cedarhurst) has officially begun his new term as the representative of New York's 20th Assembly District. As the ranking Minority member of the Local Governments Committee, Brown is focused on introducing legislation to help strengthen the state’s local economies, ensuring that resources are directed where they are most needed.
Brown continues to advocate for a broad range of issues critical to his constituents, including reducing the cost of living, lowering taxes, combating antisemitism, enhancing public safety and pushing back against harmful policies from Governor Kathy Hochul’s administration, such as the controversial congestion pricing plan.
Additionally, Brown is committed to defending his communities against environmentally and community-disruptive projects that threaten local landscapes and infrastructure, such as offshore wind farms and battery storage facilities.
“We’ve already seen the detrimental effects of poorly planned offshore wind farms on our coastal communities, which threaten to destroy our vistas and local infrastructure. I will continue to battle these projects, ensuring they don’t intrude on our communities,” said Brown. “Similarly, the expansion of battery storage facilities poses a significant risk to our neighborhoods. I will fight to protect our streets, views and overall quality of life from these disruptive projects.”
As ranking Minority member of the Local Governments Committee, Brown is focused on creating policies that protect communities while fostering economic growth.
“Our communities are facing real challenges, and I am committed to advocating for policies that make life more affordable, safer and better for all New Yorkers. We need a state government that works for the people, not against them.”
Brown is eager to advance legislation that supports both the economic vitality of local municipalities and the well-being of all New Yorkers in the upcoming legislative session.
