Assemblyman Ari Brown Responds to Restart of Equinor Offshore Wind Project: “We Will Keep Fighting for Long Island”
In response to the decision allowing Equinor’s offshore wind project off Long Island’s South Shore to resume, New York State Assemblyman Ari Brown issued the following statement:
“News that the federal stop-work order on Equinor’s offshore wind project has been lifted raises serious concerns for our communities. We are seeking further clarity on the rationale behind this decision and how it aligns with the long-term interests of the people of Long Island.
Equinor has shown time and again a lack of responsiveness to the needs and voices of South Shore residents. This is not just about clean energy—this is about local control, responsible planning and making sure our communities are not sidelined in decisions that impact their daily lives and their environment.
We will continue working closely with our partners at the state and federal levels to ensure transparency, accountability and that the interests of Long Islanders are front and center. We are committed to doing what’s right for our community—and we will not stop fighting to protect it.”
