Assembly Minority Delivers on Promise to Gold Star Families

A statement from Assemblyman Brian Manktelow (R,C,I,Ref-Lyons)

“While this year’s legislative session has mostly been a disaster, the Assembly Minority can finally celebrate a victory by helping secure funding for college to dependents of military personnel who have either been killed or severely disabled in action. While I’m thrilled to see action finally being taken, I’m disappointed that it took 10 years, a week of shaming the Majority Legislature, and it becoming a nationwide issue gaining the attention of multiple military organizations and even President Trump. That being said, I’d like to thank all my constituents and supporters who helped make this possible by signing our petition and making this issue go viral. I am so proud to finally be able to offer this support to military families across New York. It is the least we can do after the amount of pain and suffering they have gone through.”
