Manktelow Pushes for Eliminating Mask Requirement for Minors
Assemblyman Brian Manktelow (R,C,I-Lyons) joined his Assembly colleagues and parent-advocates for a press conference on Wednesday, June 9 to introduce legislation to prevent state agencies from requiring minors to wear masks. The legislation would end the mask requirements in schools, summer camps and other similar scenarios and prevent such mandates from being implemented in the future if children are non-symptomatic.
“Positivity rates are low and our children have been through enough. It’s time to lift the mask restrictions for them,” said Manktelow. “The confusion the governor has caused with the mask mandate in regard to our children is frustrating and unacceptable. We need to give back control to our students’ parents and schools, allowing them to make the right decisions when it comes to their children. We have to move forward toward recovery.”
