Assemblyman Eachus helped pass legislation that pairs maternity care providers with veteran services to address the unique needs and challenges pregnant veterans face (Ch. 623 of 2024).
“Pregnancy, the birth of a child and potential postpartum effects are always difficult, but these challenges can be magnified for veterans with mental or behavioral health conditions,” said Eachus. “This law helps provide meaningful resources to veterans to help them adjust to parenthood and deal with any postpartum complications. As a member of the Assembly’s Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I’m committed to addressing overlooked veterans' issues and ensuring they are provided the resources they have earned. I thank Assemblymember Brian Cunningham for spearheading this crucial legislation.
The program can provide benefits and guidance to pregnant veterans in collaboration with the state departments of Veterans Services and Health and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The program can be accessed at state Veterans Services offices, which provide benefits alongside the federal comprehensive coverage.
