Legislative Resolution presented to organizers during celebration

Broome County, NY – Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo and Senator Lea Webb joined the Broome County Farm Bureau, NYS Farm Bureau, Broome County Agricultural Society, and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County along with Legislative colleagues Senator Peter Oberacker and Assemblyman Joe Angelino in celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Broome County Fair. The celebration included remarks from organizers and dignitaries, lunch, and a walking tour of the fair’s many agriculture exhibits and interactive displays. Webb and Lupardo presented a Legislative Resolution that passed in both the Assembly and the Senate with the support of their colleagues acknowledging this historic occasion.

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo said, “As the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Agriculture, I was honored to join my colleagues in recognizing the 150th Anniversary of the Broome County Fair. Since 1871, the Broome County Agricultural Society has organized the Fair as a way to celebrate the people and traditions unique to our area. While the times may have changed, one mission has remained the same; to showcase local agriculture, from 4H and Cooperative Extension, to the many hardworking farmers and producers who call Broome home.”

Senator Lea Webb said, “It's a true honor to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Broome County Fair. This milestone is a testament to the enduring legacy of agriculture in our region and the generations of families who have contributed to its success. With the presentation of a joint resolution in the Legislature, we proudly recognized the vital role that the Broome County Agricultural Society, local farmers, 4H, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County, and so many others play in preserving our agricultural heritage and strengthening our rural communities. I look forward to continuing to support and uplift the voices of those who make Broome County such a special place.”
