Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-Endwell) visited Broome County Head Start today to tour the facility and see the recent upgrades. Lupardo secured a $50,000 legislative grant for upgrades to the Endicott Children’s Center, located at 1604 Union Center Highway in the Town of Union. Improvements included: new furniture and sinks for the classrooms, energy efficient lighting throughout the facility, a new furnace, and painting and repairs to a storage building.

“I am very impressed with what Broome County Head Start was able to accomplish with this grant,” said Lupardo. “Their commitment, providing quality services to local children and families is truly outstanding.”

“We are deeply grateful to Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo and her staff, for their generous help in securing these much needed funds,” said Martha Kirby, Head Start Director. “These improvements to the classrooms and Endicott Children’s Center made a real difference and have enhanced the learning environment for children in the program. Studies show again and again the lasting benefits pre-K has on student preparation, performance and college attendance.”
