Italian-American State Legislators Select Local Student Winner of 2010 Academic Scholarship
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-Endwell), a member of the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators, announced today that a local student has won one of two state-wide academic scholarships awarded annually by the conference. The student, Emily M. Edwards, is the valedictorian of the Seton Catholic Central High School Class of 2010. Emily will attend Stony Brook University where she plans to study pre-medicine. The scholarship is for $1,500.00.
The New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators consists of Italian-American legislators from both the State Senate and State Assembly. The annual academic scholarships are awarded to students who have excelled in the classroom and have a record of service in their communities. The group also awards two athletic scholarships to students who have demonstrated athletic excellence.
