- On Friday, January 21, 2021, Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I-Sag Harbor) distributed 825 masks through the interlibrary loan system to all libraries in district. As Omicron cases continued to surge across our state and nation, Governor Hochul partnered with the State Legislature to distribute COVID-19 testing kits and masks. The Governor’s office provided an allocation of 1,000 KN95 masks as well as 1,000 COVID-19 at-home tests to each Assemblymember’s office for distribution. Assemblyman Thiele is pleased to work with our local libraries in serving the public with this initiative.

- This year was another big success for our annual United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. On Monday, December 14, 2020, Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF - Sag Harbor) welcomed United States Marines Sergeant Marcus Santana and Corporal Jhonathan Florez as they picked up boxes full of toys donated by our constituents.
- Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF, REF - Sag Harbor) met with fifth grader Sabrina McManus about her environmental project to raise awareness of endangered species at the Sag Harbor Elementary School on May 31st. McManus made dozens of colorful plaster-and-resin discs decorated with an endangered species and hid them along multiple nature trails in Sag Harbor and Southampton for hikers to find and learn more about the animals at her website, looktosaveanimals.com. Assemblyman Thiele first heard from McManus when she wrote to him for a class project about the importance of wetlands and the species that depend on them.

- New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF, REF-Sag Harbor) and Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes (pictured standing to the left of Assemblyman Thiele) welcomed representatives from the Lupus Agencies of New York State to the Assembly Chamber in Albany in recognition of Lupus Awareness Day on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. Assemblyman Thiele sponsored a Resolution that was unanimously adopted earlier this month memorializing Governor Andrew Cuomo to proclaim May 2019 as Lupus Awareness Month in New York State. The Assemblymans daughter, Josephine Thiele, is one of 1.5 million Americans that have been diagnosed with Lupus and has been successfully coping with the symptoms with a thorough understanding of the disease and proper medical treatment. She has finished graduate school at Boston University and is currently working in the field of health and nutrition at GMHC (formerly Gay Mens Health Crisis) in New York City.

- On January 24, 2019, Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF, REF-Sag Harbor) presented the Pen Certificates signed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo for Chapter #224 of the Laws of 2018 creating the "September Eleventh, Two Thousand One Remembrance" distinctive license plate program in New York State, sponsored by the Assemblyman and Senator Kenneth P. - On August 16th, New York State Assemblyman Fred Thiele and Suffolk County Legislator Bridget Fleming joined the Southampton African American Museum, Eastville Historical Society, and the family members of World War II Veterans and Tuskegee Airmen, the late Dr. Roscoe C. Brown, Jr. and Lee A. Hayes, at Guild Hall in East Hampton. The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American military aviators in the United States Armed Forces, and they fought during a time when the military and much of the federal government was racially segregated. - On Tuesday, May 9, 2017 Assemblyman Fred W. - New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. is joined by East Hampton Town Officials to announce their partnership construct a new municipal parking field in downtown Montauk to help alleviate parking and pedestrian safety issues in the hamlet. The new parking field, estimated to add approximately 30 new parking spaces, will be located at the intersection of S. Edison Street and S. Euclid Avenue, across the street from an existing municipal parking field. The commercially zoned parcel was purchased by the Town of East Hampton, and $250,000 from Assemblyman Thiele and $100,000 from Senator Ken LaValle in State capital funding will be used to construct the field and subsequent infrastructure.
