Final State Budget Provides Substantial State Aid Increases For Local Roads
1st Assembly District Will Get Substantial Increases in CHIPS
March 26, 2013

New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) today announced that the final 2013 State Budget will include $438 million under the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS). The State Legislature added $75 million to what was originally proposed by the Governor.

Thiele stated, "The 2013 CHIPS funding marks the first increase in this program since 2008. The increase will mean improved local infrastructure, construction jobs for the local economy, and property tax relief for local taxpayers. This increased funding was something I had strongly advocated for in letters to Legislative Leaders and the Governor. As a former Town Supervisor, I know the benefits that accrue from this state highway aid."
