Thiele Announces Final 2013 State Budget Provides First-Time Funding For Two Local Villages
State Budget Provides New Funding for Sagaponack and Mastic Beach Villages
April 1, 2013

Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) today announced that the Final 2013 State Budget, at the request of Assemblyman Thiele, included funding to four New York State villages formed after 2005. Under current law, such villages were shut out of AIM funding (Aid & Incentives for Municipalities Program). Under Thiele's proposal, new villages such as Sagaponack and Mastic Beach will get a special appropriation. This is in addition to the 21% increase to the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) which local governments received.

Thiele stated, "My thanks to the Villages of Sagaponack and Mastic Beach for bringing this inequity to my attention. I am pleased that the State Budget included my request for additional aid to these new villages.

Below is the fiscal impact on local governments within the 1st Assembly District:

Local Government 2012 Budget Executive Final Budget Increase
Village of Sagaponack 0 0 $2,000 +$2,000
Village of Mastic Beach 0 0 $75,000 +$75,000
