Thiele: 6 New Low-Cost Homes Available to Veterans Who Served in Iraq or Afghanistan

Letters of interest must be received by May 1st

Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) today announced that the Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corporation, a charitable arm of the Long Island Builders Institute, will be building a brand new six lot subdivision for returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. These homes, to be located in Islandia, NY, will be sold to veterans and their families at prices far below full market rate. Veterans must be able to procure a mortgage and qualify as a first time homebuyer. The homes can be designed to meet any special needs of the veterans such as wider doors and entrances, larger bathrooms, etc. To apply for one of these homes, veterans must write a letter of interest outlining their military service, present living status, employment status, and how this opportunity may impact their lives.
