Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation sponsored by New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) (A.3357) which clarifies Chapter 214 of the Laws of 2012 which authorized the Town of East Hampton to alienate, transfer and convey its interest in the Poxabogue Golf Center, jointly owned by the towns of East Hampton and Southampton, to the town of Southampton. Senator Kenneth P. LaValle sponsored the Senate version, S. 2920. The clarification was necessary to more accurately describe the metes and bounds of the property.
In 2012, at the request of East Hampton Town, legislation was enacted to enable the Town of East Hampton to alienate, transfer and convey its 50 percent share in the Poxabogue Golf Center to the Town of Southampton as a cost savings measure. However, during the transaction process between the two Towns, it was determined that the metes and bounds of the property were incorrectly described in the newly enacted law.
With the Governor’s recent signature, both Towns can now proceed with the transfer transaction.
