Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) today reported that the Peconic Bay Community Preservation Fund (CPF) produced $7.01 million in revenue for the Peconic Bay Region for January 2014. This compared with $11.13 million a year ago. That represents a 37% decrease from last January. There were 649 transactions this year compared with 1054 a year ago. Over the last 12 months, the CPF has generated $91.31 million. The CPF has generated $891.74 million since its inception in 1999. The 2% transfer tax expires in 2030.
Thiele stated, "January 2013 revenues of $11.13 million represented one of the highest months in the history of the CPF. This month's total of $7.01 million still represents a healthy marketplace. It is the 4th highest January revenue in the 15 year history of the program. Further, the snow and cold weather over the last six weeks has definitely had its impact on the marketplace. In summary, January 2014 represents a solid month of CPF revenues, despite the adverse weather. We will need several more months of activity before we can discern any trend for 2014.
Below are revenues by Town for January 2014 compared with 2013.
