Assemblyman Thiele and Senator LaValle have pooled their 2014 Community Capital Assistance Program funds to provide $700,000 to the Village of East Hampton. The Village of will be matching the Legislators’ contribution.
The proposed project includes the construction of a roundabout with a raised, mountable and landscaped center island, as well as the installation of improved drainage structures, and traffic calming and enhanced pedestrian safety measures.
This project has been in the works for several years as the Village of East Hampton worked closely with the New York State Department of Transportation to design a project to improve safety at this very busy and dangerous intersection. The project, however, lay fallow without any allocation of resources at the State level.
Construction is expected to begin in 2015.
