Traffic Calming Measures Coming to SR 24- Flanders Road
Two new traffic signals to be installed
Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) today announced that the New York State Department of Transportation has plans to install two new traffic signals on State Route 24, also known as Flanders Road, at the following locations:
1. The intersection of SR 24/Flanders Road at Long View Blvd.
2. The intersection of SR 24/Flanders Road at Long Oak Ave.
Over the past several years, Assemblyman Thiele has been working with officials from the State Department of Transportation (DOT), Town of Southampton, and members of the Flanders, Riverside & Northampton Community Association (FRNCA) to address ongoing road and traffic safety concerns on this State roadway. DOT’s Flanders Road Traffic Study identified necessity of installing traffic signals at these two intersections.
As previously reported, Flanders Road, between the traffic circle in Riverside and Bellows Pond Road near Hampton Bays, is scheduled to be repaved early this fall.
Additional details about the traffic signals and installation dates are expected to be released shortly.
