Peconic Bay Community Preservation Fund Revenues Total $8.94 Million in May 2015

Fund generates $39.25 million for the first five months of 2015; compared with $38.26 million a year ago, or 2.6% more than a year ago

Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I-Sag Harbor) today reported that 2015 revenues for the Peconic Bay Community Preservation Fund (CPF) for the first five months produced revenue of $39.25 million. A year ago $38.26 million was collected for the same period. This represents a 2.6% increase from a year ago.

The number of transactions for the first five months of 2015 was 2,978 compared with 2,940 a year ago. Since its inception in 1999, the Peconic Bay Regional Community Preservation Fund has generated $1.03178 billion. In the last 12 months, the CPF has generated $108.58 million. The 2% tax under the CPF expires in 2030.

Thiele stated, "The CPF revenues in the first five months of 2015 exceed 2014 by 2.6%. 2014 was the largest year for CPF revenues in the history of the program. This reflects the continued strength in East End real estate and the continued availability to local Towns of the necessary revenues to protect community character."
