Thiele: Assembly Budget Includes Funding for Child Care, After School Programs
March 11, 2016
“For working families, quality child care is often too expensive and hard to find. The Assembly budget proposal recognizes this challenge and increases funding for child care and after-school programs by $82 million. Under our plan, an additional $75 million is earmarked for 10,000 child care slots and an additional $7 million is included for the Advantage Afterschool program.
“After-school programs play a vital role in a student’s development by helping them succeed academically and stay out of trouble. And by improving access to child care, working parents can provide for their families with the peace of mind that their children are growing and thriving in a safe environment.”
