Thiele: Assembly Budget Provides More Funding for Critical Water and Sewer Infrastructure Upgrades
March 15, 2016
“The Assembly’s state budget proposal earmarks $300 million for upgrades to local water and sewer infrastructure statewide, $50 million more than the governor proposed (E.1047). This money would be dispersed as grants to local governments to repair or replace water mains and sewer systems, ensuring that adequate funding is available to protect and improve water quality. The health of our children and families depends on it.
“Throughout the country and here in New York State, there have been too many alarming situations, which must be fixed immediately. We must ensure that our drinking water and wastewater infrastructure is sound, and repairing outdated or broken water systems is a smart investment in our future.”
