Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF, WE - Sag Harbor) announced that the East Hampton Housing Authority is receiving a $7 million Unified Funding award from the NYS Homes & Community Renewal for its affordable housing project at 531 Montauk Highway in Amagansett. The funding is part of more than $200 million the state is awarding to build or preserve over 2,800 affordable apartments across New York's 10 regions. An overall $25.6 million has been awarded to four affordable housing developments on Long Island that will create 239 affordable homes.

“I am thrilled that the East Hampton Housing Authority is getting the support it needs to build this affordable housing project in Amagansett,” said Assemblyman Thiele. “The availability of affordable housing opportunities for moderate income and working class residents is in short supply, and the adverse impacts from this shortage of housing opportunities must be addressed.”

The affordable housing project at 531 Montauk Highway in Amagansett will feature 37 homes for families and individuals with incomes ranging from very low to moderate. The project will feature a two-story common house, which will include a meeting space, kitchenette, a computer room and laundry facilities.

It’s what we need, when we need it.”
