"We should be doing this for two reasons. Number one: it's going to save the system money, therefore less cost for employers through premiums, and two: it is the medically appropriate treatment determined by medical doctors that injured workers deserve under our system," said Assemblymember Bronson, a member of the Assembly Committee on Labor, discussing legislation he authored to authorize the care and treatment of injured employees by a duly licensed and registered acupuncturist under the workers' compensation program.
