Assemblymember Harry B. Bronson Helped Pass Measure to Save Local Governments Money
March 29, 2012
In an effort to ease the financial burden on local governments, I supported a measure in the final 2012-13 budget that allows county clerks to take a portion of the fees collected online from state DMV transactions. Currently, the county clerk only collects fees from DMV transactions done in person if the transaction is done online, the state collects the entire fee.
This current method short changes local governments. During a time when more and more transactions are occurring online rather than in person, allowing county clerks to receive a portion of these transactions will provide some relief to local governments.
