Assemblymember Bronson and Chili Public Library Announce Grant of Over $18,000

Assemblymember Harry B. Bronson (D-Rochester/Chili/Riga/Rush/Wheatland) announced that he helped secure a public construction grant of over $18,000 for the Chili Public Library in Rochester. The grant was provided through a $14 million capital fund appropriated in the 2011-12 state budget.

"In this tough economy, it is important for families to have a place that they can go with their children that is inexpensive, fun and educational, as well as somewhere for individuals to read, study, search for jobs and surf the Internet," Assemblymember Bronson said. "By investing in local libraries, we can ensure everyone has continued access to the vast resources they provide."

The money awarded to the Chili Public Library will go toward renovating the library’s Children’s area by relocating an office, increasing shelving and display space, and adding a children’s computer workstation in order to create more room for materials, programming and children’s computing, thereby increasing the library’s efficiency.

"This State grant will be used to further create a welcoming responsive place for the children in our community to come to discover new ideas, and the joy of reading," said Jeff Baker, Director of Chili Public Library.

"Libraries are vital assets to our community," Assemblymember Bronson said. "I will continue fighting to protect library funding."
