Assemblymember Bronson: Parents Voices Heard on Common Core

“Our children face many challenges as they pursue their educational opportunities, but over-burdensome testing as a result of Common Core should not be one of those challenges. Today a bill I sponsored passed the Assembly to reduce testing for students in grades three through eight and eliminate certain standardized testing for pre-k through grade two. We all support providing the best education for our kids, but I believe we need to allow time for a reexamination of the Common Core implementation to determine the best way to improve our schools. After speaking with many parents, teachers, education professionals, and members of our community, I share their concerns and will continue to work to make our school system better.”
