Assembly Majority Leader Joseph D. Morelle & Assemblymember Harry B. Bronson Announce Funding for the Modernization of the Blue Cross Area

Albany, NY – Today, Assemblymembers Joseph D. Morelle and Harry B. Bronson made the following statement regarding funding secured for the modernization of the Blue Cross Arena (BCA) at the War Memorial:

“We are pleased to announce that, as part of an agreement between the State Assembly, State Senate and the Governor’s Office, the City of Rochester will receive over $10 million in capital grants for the purpose of modernizing the BCA. The agreement provides that the Assembly, Senate and the Governor’s Office will each provide one-third of the capital funding allocated.

“This critical investment will allow for significant improvements to the BCA and help create a year-round attraction for Rochester-area residents and tourists that will revitalize our urban core while attracting major shows, concerts, and special arena events.

“We thank our colleagues in state government, the City of Rochester and our many community partners for their collective efforts and collaboration to move this project forward and strengthen the economic vitality of our region.”
