Assemblymember Bronson: New York Buy American Act Strengthens Manufacturing

“As New York expands and repairs the vast network of roads and bridges that connect our communities, the need for iron and steel manufacturing is all the more necessary. That’s why the New York Buy American Act becoming law is so monumental (Ch. 451 of 2017). The law requires that contracts over $1 million awarded by certain agencies for state road and bridge construction use American steel and iron. Investing in these industries and the hardworking men and women who’ve made a career in these fields provides a vital boost to our state economy and paves the way to a more prosperous future.

“Our nation has a rich history of manufacturing that extends back to its founding. This legislation will continue that legacy, stimulate our local economy and ensure taxpayer money is reinvested in our own backyard. As a member of the Assembly Committee on Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry, I’ll continue doing my part to advocate for workers and help American industries flourish.”
